DDJ REV1 Sound Issue

I am not sure if anyone else has experienced this and how it was fixed; or if it was. I have never had issues but today when I plugged the controller into my laptop the sound through my speakers was extremely distorted and muddy. I unplugged it thinking that it was my other cables or speakers... Once I unplugged it the sound became completely normal. I am not sure how to fix these issues. The cable is brand new and the USB on my laptop works perfectly fine. Please advise.... Any advice would be amazing.
