Having trouble connecting the alphatheta ddj-grv 6 to my macbook

Hi there,
I recently got an Alphatheta DDJ-GRV6, and I installed the device as per the tutorial by installing Recordbox in the process. Unfortunately, when I try to connect the controller to the MacBook via an Anker USB hub, it's not being detected. 

Secondly, when I try connecting the controller directly to the MacBook, it turns on, but I can't hear any audio. I feel this problem would be there even if I manage to connect my controller via the USB hub. Thanks
