Noise/distortion from headphones out with Android on DDJ-FLX4 (software problem)
I purchased FLX4 (firmware ver. 1.0.6) and encountered a problem with distortion/noise when outputting sound through headphones. I use an Android-based phone (Huawei P60 Pro, EMUI 14.2.0) and two programs: Rekordbox (Android) 4.4.0.91 free and Djay (Android) 5.3.3 paid.
I connect my phone and FLX with a type-c-type-c cable that came with the controller. After launching Rekordbox/Djay, I hear loud noise in my headphones (or in any other device that I connect via the headphone output). At first, I thought it was a defect and wanted to return my controller under warranty. However, I came across a post about a similar problem with the DDJ400.
In that situation, the noise problem was solved by updating the device's firmware. Unfortunately, my controller's firmware version is the latest (as of 07/24/2025), but a solution was still found: to get rid of the noise in the headphones, you need to enable/disable the “split output” function in the rekordbox/djaya settings (every time). Interesting fact: this feature is paid (!).
That is, using Rekordbox, I was unable to get rid of the noise (even if I first turned “split output” on/off in Djay). This solution was found completely by accident, and there is no similar solution on YouTube, Reddit, or the Pioneer forum.
Important(!) This problem exists on my Huawei P60 Pro, but no noise is observed when using a Samsung Galaxy Note 10.
This is a very strange decision, because at first glance it seems that the noise could be caused by electrical interference, but in fact it is just a common bug.
