LINK EXPORT or PRO DJ LINK not working or showing at Rekordbox launch (MAC OS) (FIXED)

I am posting this because I had this issue and could not find a fix anywhere. However I did troubleshoot the issue successfully and none of the previous posts or FAQ guides mentioned the (quite simple) fix.

Issue

Rekordbox 6

Mac OS - Link button was not showing (after reinstalling OS) when connecting over LAN

Root Cause

No Ethernet/LAN protocol available on system preferences.

Upon reinstalling the Mac OS the installer had not created the Ethernet/LAN protocol in system preferences > network. This is because the OS installer will only create the protocol if a LAN cable is plugged in at time of installation.

Fix

click plug in cable, navigate to system preferences > network click "+" and select "USB 10/100/1000 LAN", then select "create".

Voila. Link button should appear immediately upon opening Rekordbox.

Staggering that this wasn't included in any of the troubleshooting materials available.
