Moving collection to new computer but i want to keep the Date Added metadata on the files / library as thats how i order my tracks
I am moving from Mac to Windows, and have 7000+ songs.
For years I used iTunes and more recently Apple music when it replaced iTunes to manage my music and playlists, which i would access via Rekordbox to export to USBs.
Aside from playlists, my main sorting method is to use Date Added. Over the years migrating from different iTunes versions and Apple music has got the library.xml in a bit of a state but its still usable and works for adding new stuff to Apple Music and seeing this in Rekordbox.
When i have tried to copy music files to Windows and then load into Rekordbox there (which i want to use now as my main music library manager) I am losing the Date Added data as it is being replaced with the date that i am bringing stuff into the Windows instance of rekordbox.
Is there anyway i can retain the Date Added metadata from my Apple Music, or Rekordbox library xmls and use this when importing my music to Rekordbox in Windows?
Only some of my music is in playlists and anything not in my playlists i usually search for by scrolling back in time through various eras using Date Added, but if i lose that more than half of my music will be so jumbled i would have no idea how to find it. Large playlists ie a playlist for each year could be an option but again stuff inside would still be jumbled up so if there is a more elegant solution i'd love to be able to keep my current Data Added metadata
Thanks!

Go to Google and search for "how to retain Date Added metadata when moving music in rekordbox" and Google A.I. should give you the answers you seek. From my understanding as long as you have backed up your Rekordbox library on your Mac and restored it in Windows, you can then use the Relocate or Auto Relocate function to restore the file path associations. As long as there has been no changes to filenames when moving your music then this should work.
