Rekordbox video

I’m considering switching from Serato to Rekordbox after using Serato for over 10 years, primarily because Rekordbox has become the industry standard and its auto-gain feature is far more accurate. My sets rely heavily on video, and this is where I’m running into a serious problem.

On my Lenovo Legion (Intel Ultra 9, 32 GB RAM, RTX 5080), Serato Video runs flawlessly. The same video files, however, run noticeably choppy in Rekordbox, even after re-encoding them at lower bitrates. Given the power of my system, this makes no sense to me.

I don’t understand why Rekordbox’s video plugin struggles so much on high-end hardware, especially when video DJing is no longer niche. It’s growing rapidly beyond festival setups. In countries like India, visuals are now a standard part of club and event DJing, with most DJs running video directly from their laptops alongside audio.

Should I expect that the plugin will improve? And if there are any tips to make it run smoothy now.

Don't suggest buying a mac. It's not that kind of debate
