CDJ-3000X Load My Settings (some do not update)
The CDJs are used with a USB stick (exported from RB).
1. When pressing [LOAD] in My Settings (via the shortcut or the source screen), it does load most settings; however, some are not loaded:
- Waveform Color
- Waveform Current Position
- Waveform Divisions
--> I tested this by changing the settings so they differ from the [My Settings] exported via RB, then pressing [LOAD].
2. Some items are mentioned in the shortcut menu, but are absent in the utility menu. I would have assumed that the utility menu is comprehensive. For example, Time Mode, Waveform Color, and Auto Cue are not mentioned in the utility menu (not a big deal, as they are present in the shortcut menu).
3. Items such as Jog Mode or Tempo Range are absent in both the shortcut menu and the utility menu (but are settings that show up in RB). It may be worth including them in the Utility menu, just for completeness. The good news is that they update when you press [LOAD], even if they are not explicitly mentioned in the utilities menu.
4. The utility "DJ Settings" menu order is not the same as RB's "My Settings" for the Player. For example, in RB, "Play Mode" is the first item, whereas in the CDJ-3000X utility's menu, it is the last. The same is true for many other items, e.g., Beat Jump Beat Value. Not a big deal, but why not make everything as identical as possible?
Thanks! (running the latest firmware and software versions)

The above settings will not change even if you press the load button.
Since these are device-specific settings, you must change them one by one using shortcuts.
It feels like a bug; they should change because you can set their values in RB.
This may be related to an issue in RB where you can set these values in the preferences (General - DJ System), but you need to set them again in RB when you click on the device settings.
These settings should load automatically when "apply settings on devices automatically" is checked. In the same way all the other tabs automatically load (e.g., "Column", "Sort", "Category"), "General" should also load.
The only items that don't automatically load are the "My Settings" options when you disable the "apply settings on devices automatically" option.
This RB bug was acknowledged earlier and will hopefully be fixed.
The CDJ-3000X issue is that the general device values (now set manually in RB because they did not load automatically), also do not load on the CDJ when they should (i.e., after clicking [LOAD].
Set it in a device in rekordboX and it will be reflected when you load a song from that device.
Correct, if you have 2 USB sticks, and make the following settings in RB:
- USB1: "RBG, Center, and Phrase"
- USB2: "3Band, Left, and Time Scale"
They will load correctly on the CDJ-3000X.
--> Now change these 3 settings on the CDJ-3000X for each stick. Change also e.g., switch the tempo range, CDJ vs Vinyl, Beat Jump Value, .... for the purpose of testing both sticks.
--> Now click on [LOAD].
--> Everything loads like it should (i.e., the original RB Settings appear again), however
- Waveform Color
- Waveform Current Position
- Waveform Divisions
do not reload correctly.
USB1: "RBG, Center, and Phrase"
USB2: "3 Band, Left, and Time Scale"
Procedure:
1. Load a song from USB1
→ The settings will be: Waveform Color: RBG. Waveform Current Position: Center. Waveform Divisions: Phrase.
2. Load a song from USB2
→ The settings will be: Waveform Color: 3 Band. Waveform Current Position: Left. Waveform Divisions: Time Scale.
3. Touch the LOAD button on USB1.
→ The settings in MYSETTINGS will be reflected in the PLAYER. However, Waveform Color, Waveform Current Position, and Waveform Divisions will remain the USB2 settings.
In other words, Waveform Color, Waveform Current Position, and Waveform Divisions are only reflected when a song is loaded.
They will not change to the USB1 settings unless you load a song from USB1 again.
I think that settings such as UTILITY, SHORTCUT, and settings without hard buttons are not reflected by the LOAD button in MYSETTINGS.
You are correct, the behavior is different than what I would expect. I replicated what you mentioned above, but my problem was actually something else (jump to "what is annoying").
PART 1: Your observations confirmed:
When you load a song from a USB stick, the Waveform Color, Waveform Current Position, and Waveform Divisions are loaded from that stick (and these settings will thus change song by song if you load songs from different USBs that have different preferences saved). In other words, those settings don't "stick" to the CDJ but to the device from which the song is loaded.
This means that if you select USB1 (I called mine "naked" because it did not have a lanyard) under "Source" and click "My Settings Load", I would have expected all the settings from that USB to be loaded.
However, it seems that if a track from USB2 is loaded on the player (for me, the "lanyard" USB), even though I selected "My Settings Load" from USB1 (naked) in the source menu, if I click the shortcut menu, not the selected USB from the source menu is shown, but the device that holds the track (lanyard).
In sum, the shortcut menu shows a bit more clearly what is going on and which USB settings are loaded, compared to the source menu.
The source menu makes you believe that all settings from the USB were loaded, as it shows the message "your settings were loaded to PLAYER". This message is a bit misleading, as it does not load the three waveform settings mentioned above.
PART 2: What is annoying:
What annoyed me is the following (and this happens even when you only have 1 USB):
When a USB is first loaded, all is fine. But if you change the waveform settings on the CDJ (i.e., Waveform Color, Waveform Current Position, and Waveform Divisions), there doesn't seem to be any way to revert to the original settings that were chosen in RB.
For example, the exported stick had 3-band color as a setting. When I change this and select "Blue" in the shortcut settings, no matter what I do afterwards (be it clicking "my settings load" in the source menu, or clicking "load" in the shortcut menu), the device seems to be stuck on blue (and the same is true for left vs center or phrase vs time scale), and it seems impossible to reveal which options where originally selected in RB.
--> Changing the waveform color to blue should have just been a temporary change, and should not have been saved, as I never clicked on "save" in the shortcut menu. I think this is a bug.
Waveform Color, Waveform Current Position, and Waveform Divisions are settings within the USB, so if you change them in the PLAYER, they will be automatically saved.
