STEMS audio crackling when isolating parts after ~10 minutes of mixing (DDJ-1000 / MacBook Air M4)
I'm experiencing an issue with STEMS in rekordbox. After approximately 10 minutes of mixing, audio crackling occurs when I try to isolate or remove a STEMS part (for example, removing the instrumental to isolate vocals). The crackling happens on either deck 1 or deck 2—not both simultaneously—and persists on that deck until I restart rekordbox.
Setup:
- rekordbox version: 7.2.11
- macOS: Sequoia
- Hardware: MacBook Air M4, 16GB RAM
- Controller: DDJ-1000
STEMS and audio settings:
- Buffer size: 512 samples
- STEMS mode: 3 Stems
- Prioritized sound quality: Enabled
- STEM waveform: Enabled
- STEM instant doubles: Left/Right
- Increased memory size for analysis: Enabled
- Multithread: Disabled
- Groove circuit: Disabled
- Video: Disabled
- Lighting: Disabled
Symptoms:
- Mixing works fine for the first ~10 minutes
- Crackling starts when I activate STEMS separation (e.g., removing instrumental or isolating vocals)
- Affects one deck at a time, either deck 1 or deck 2
- The blue STEMS analysis progress bar is still visible/moving on the affected deck
- Issue occurs on both battery and AC power
- Disabling STEMS entirely eliminates the issue
Is this a known issue, and are there any recommended fixes?
Thank you.
