Upgrading from a DDJ-FLX4 – XDJ-AZ, XDJ-RX3 or DDJ-FLX10?

Hi everyone,

I currently own a Pioneer DJ DDJ-FLX4, and I’m considering upgrading to a more professional setup.

I mainly use my controller at home, but I also want something suitable for parties and occasional gigs. I’m currently looking through this selection of DJ controllers, and these are the three models I’m considering:

I like the idea of a standalone system, but I’m unsure whether the XDJ-AZ would be more than I actually need. The XDJ-RX3 seems like a more affordable way to move away from using a laptop, while the DDJ-FLX10 appears to offer a lot of creative features if I continue using rekordbox with my computer.

For someone upgrading from the FLX4, which of these would you recommend?

Is the XDJ-AZ worth the additional investment, or would the RX3 or FLX10 be the more sensible upgrade for home use and occasional gigs?

I’d especially like to hear from anyone who has moved from the FLX4 to one of these systems.

Thanks!

Douglas Brandt

I have an AZ and I LOVE it, but it's not cheap. I'm also an old head who doesn't trust computers, and so I wanted an all-in-one. The FLX 10 is a controller though, so if you're accustomed to and happy using a laptop, then I'd definitely say don't spend the money on am AZ -- especially if it's mostly just you using it. If you owned a small spot or hosted parties with your gear, then the AZ might be more universally accepted by a larger pool of DJs with a variety of backgrounds and hardware needs.

Plus the FLX 10 has onboard stems buttons, if you're into that. Stems aren't readily available on the AZ without midi mapping.

I honestly don't know much about the RX series.

Hope that helps! Let me know what you decided!
