Feature Suggestion: Flexible Workspace for Controller DJs and Streamers

Dear rekordbox Development Team,

First of all, I would like to thank you for creating such a powerful DJ platform. Over the last few days, I have been getting to know rekordbox while moving from another DJ software, and I have discovered many features that I truly enjoy, especially the integration with Pioneer hardware, Active Loops and the overall workflow.

At the same time, I would like to share an idea that I believe could make rekordbox even better.

Many modern DJs are no longer only club DJs. We stream, use controllers, work with multiple monitors and have different workflows depending on our setup.

A more flexible workspace system could be a huge improvement.

Some ideas:

• Allow individual interface sections to be freely resized.
• Allow panels to be detached and moved to a second monitor.
• Allow software controls to be completely hidden when the same functions are already available on a hardware controller.
• Make good use of the freed space by enlarging waveforms or other important information instead of simply increasing the playlist area.

The existing default layout would not need to change. This could simply become an optional custom workspace mode for advanced users, controller DJs and streamers.

One example that inspired this suggestion:
When the software mixer is hidden because a hardware controller is being used, it would feel natural for the freed space to be used for larger waveforms. During a performance, this is where much of the important visual information is located.

This becomes especially important when working with four decks. While two decks are usually easy to follow, the individual waveforms can become quite small when four decks are active at the same time. A smarter use of the available space could significantly improve visibility and workflow for many controller DJs.

rekordbox already offers many powerful features. Giving users more freedom to customize their workspace could make the software even more enjoyable for a growing community of controller DJs and content creators without changing existing workflows for those who already love the current layout.
