B2B on XDJ-AN
Hi everyone,
I own an XDJ-AZ and I mostly play B2B sets with another DJ. I was surprised to find out there's currently no way to connect two USB drives from two different DJs at the same time on this unit.
Given the price point of this console, it feels like a significant limitation for anyone who regularly plays back-to-back. My question for AlphaTheta (or anyone with insider knowledge) is:
- is there any chance of a firmware update that would allow using a USB hub with multiple drives recognized independently per channel/deck?
- Alternatively, is there any product roadmap that addresses this kind of B2B/multi-user USB workflow?
It seems like a fairly common use case, and I'd love to hear if this is something the community has already found workarounds for, or if it's something AlphaTheta might consider addressing in a future update.
Thanks in advance for any info!

Hi Giovanni,
I’ve run into this kind of limitation with B2B setups too. The problem is that the XDJ-AZ is essentially treating the USB connection as a shared media source, rather than giving each DJ an independent USB source per deck.
I wouldn’t count on a firmware update solving this unless AlphaTheta specifically changes the underlying USB/media architecture. A USB hub alone probably wouldn’t magically turn it into four independent USB readers!
For B2B, the simplest workaround is usually to have both DJs export their libraries to the same USB, or have one DJ use the USB while the other uses a laptop/streaming source where appropriate.
Personally, for regular B2Bs, I’d love to see AlphaTheta add proper dual-USB independent browsing, because the hardware is absolutely capable of handling the kind of workflow people expect from a professional setup.
Hope this help! 😎🙏🏼🎶
