DDJ FLX10 - BEAT FX SELECT knob does not change the selected effect

I am writing about a fault with my DDJ-FLX10 which, based on my research, appears to be a recurring problem across multiple units rather than an isolated case. I would like your guidance on resolution.

PRODUCT DETAILS
- Product: DDJ-FLX10
- Purchase date: 11 February 2024
- Software: rekordbox 6.8.7
- Operating system: macOS [26.5.2 (25F84)]
- Location: India

THE FAULT
The BEAT FX SELECT knob does not reliably change the selected effect. Turning it only reaches a small number of effects; most of the list is skipped and the corresponding names do not appear on the Beat FX display.

Critically, the failure is one-directional:
- Software to hardware WORKS: selecting an effect manually in rekordbox correctly updates the controller's Beat FX display with the right name.
- Hardware to software FAILS: turning the BEAT FX SELECT knob does not reliably register in rekordbox.

Since the outbound path functions correctly, the USB connection, driver and display are all working. The fault is specific to the inbound signal from the BEAT FX SELECT encoder.

TROUBLESHOOTING COMPLETED

1. Confirmed rekordbox 6.8.7 (above minimum required version).
2. Switched FX1 from Multi FX to single Beat FX mode - no change.
3. Checked Preferences > Controller > Effect tab - contains only RELEASE FX and MERGE FX settings, nothing relevant.
4. Checked Preferences > Controller > DDJ-FLX10 tab - contains only audio output settings, nothing related to FX mapping.
5. Verified that effects I can select manually in rekordbox still cannot be reached via the knob, ruling out plan-locked effects as the sole explanation.
6. Attempted firmware update; the updater could not detect the controller.

THIS APPEARS TO BE A KNOWN ISSUE

While researching, I found this reported by other DDJ-FLX10 owners with near-identical symptoms:

- A thread on the Pioneer DJ Community (March 2026, "DDJ FLX10 Filter/Crush and Beat Fx Not Working") describes exactly the same one-way behaviour: the Beat FX knob failing to change effects, while manual selection in rekordbox updates the display correctly. That user tried firmware 1.14, rolled back to 1.11, and attempted a factory reset, with no success. Two further users confirmed the same fault. The original poster reported filing an inquiry ticket (reference #642404) and receiving no reply.

- A detailed technical account published in April 2026 documents the same Beat FX selector failure alongside Color FX and LED meter issues, and concludes it is a hardware fault on an internal daughterboard or its ribbon cable, requiring repair.

MY REQUEST

The DDJ-FLX10 is a professional-tier product at a significant price point, purchased for professional use. I registered it with AlphaTheta on the day of purchase. A component failing in this manner, in a pattern that multiple other owners have independently reported, suggests a design or manufacturing weakness rather than normal wear. Where a fault recurs across units, I believe it is reasonable to expect the manufacturer to stand behind the product.

I would therefore like to request:

1. Confirmation of whether AlphaTheta has identified this as a known issue with the DDJ-FLX10, and whether a fix or service bulletin exists.
2. Consideration of a goodwill repair given the recurring nature of the fault.
3. If a paid repair is the only option, a written estimate before any work begins, and confirmation of whether inspection is chargeable.
4. Expected turnaround time, as I use this controller for paid performances.
