XDJ-AZ USB blinking

I got my XDJ-AZ less than a month ago and had no issues with it until I had to take it to a gig two weeks ago. At the gig, something wonky happened with my USB (at least according to what I can discern from the internet). It seems my AZ lost connection with my USB. It was able to load tracks, but not any associated cues or metadata -- so when I went to tap a hot cue to jump ahead to a specific point in the track, it loaded a previously played song -- but at the cue point I'd just tapped on the other song (for example, hot cue E is always my last drop of the song, so hitting hot cue E on a track was pulling up hot cue E on the previously played track).  I'm newish to dj-ing, so the first time it happened, I assumed it was just me making a mistake ... but when it happened two more times in my set, I knew it wasn't me.  I dug around for the remainder of the week and uncovered the answer noted above.  

In the meantime, that USB drive a 128 GB Lexar, which was brand new, has failed completely and won't connect to my Mac or my AZ. I bought a new 512 GB Sandisk, which should be here next week. As a backup, I grabbed a 128 GB Samsung drive because I needed something for my gig the next day. I formatted the drive, exFAT, confirmed that my software and hardware are the latest available... but as soon as I plugged in the new drive, I'm seeing the same thing. Blinking USB light, occasionally the source button will flash as well, As of now I haven't had issues with tracks loading, but I'm really not looking to have that experience again -- especially not when I'm playing out. I also don't want to keep shilling out cash on new USBs when these get burnt through.

Trying to figure out if I'm doing something wrong or if maybe there's an issue with my AZ?

I've submitted a ticket with Alphatheta support, but the phone rep also told me to open a chat here in the forums.
