Affordable MIDI/LINK Hub for XDJ/CDJ users without a Pioneer mixer – anyone else miss this?
Hi, I'm a DJ and producer, and in my live sets I'd love to see an affordable hardware product that solves some basic problems for people who use XDJ or CDJ units and don't have a Pioneer mixer with automatic MIDI/LINK.
I'd love for there to be a kind of hub where I could connect several XDJ-700s (which is what I have), but that could also connect an MPC One, a drum machine, or even a simple synth, with MIDI sync.
It would be a very basic kind of hub, with several LINK connections, and at least one or more MIDI Out ports.
I know DIY solutions already exist for this — for example, using a Raspberry Pi with the open-source djlink2midi software to convert the Pro DJ LINK network clock into MIDI Clock. It works, but it requires manually setting up and configuring everything, which is far from a simple, accessible solution for most users. That tells me there's a real gap here that a simple, official "plug and play" product could solve really well.
In terms of price, something in the 50-100€ range seems like a realistic positioning for this kind of accessory - cheap enough to be an "impulse buy" for people who've already invested in Pioneer gear, but still viable for Pioneer to produce without it being a high-end product.
Does anyone else feel this is missing?
