Rekordbox crashes instantly on start/connect with DDJ-RX (c0000005 in ddj_rx_asio.dll)

Hi all,

Having a persistent crash with Rekordbox (v6.8.7) whenever my DDJ-RX is connected. The application crashes immediately, pointing directly to the official Pioneer ASIO driver.

I ran a WinDbg dump analysis on the crash log (.dmp), and it gives an Access Violation (0xc0000005) inside ddj_rx_asio.dll.

Here are the key details from the WinDbg analysis:

  • Process: rekordbox.exe

  • Module Name: ddj_rx_asio.dll

  • Failure Bucket: INVALID_POINTER_READ_c0000005_ddj_rx_asio.dll!Unknown

  • Exception Code: 0xc0000005 (Access Violation)

  • Faulting Instruction: ddj_rx_asio!DllCanUnloadNow+0x19ad

  • OS: Windows 11 Home

What I've already tried:

  • Clean uninstalled and reinstalled the DDJ-RX ASIO drivers multiple times.

  • Ran Rekordbox as Administrator.

  • Turned off Memory Integrity.

I'm using the latest drivers and version of rekordbox 6 on my Acer Aspire XC-1760 PC.

Since the crash occurs specifically at ddj_rx_asio!DllCanUnloadNow during a memory read, it appears the driver is attempting to access an invalid memory address upon initializing/unloading the thread.

Has anyone encountered this specific pointer read crash with the DDJ-RX ASIO driver on recent Windows builds, or is there a known fix/workaround for this driver thread failure?

Thanks!
