XDJ-RX and Rekordbox softawre
Hi,
everything works except when I use an ethernet cable to link between the RX and my laptop. The link button appears and when I press it the two deck boxes appear. however none of the tracks from the laptop appear in the RX window/can't scroll through tracks on laptop. Here's the specs
HP laptop 64bit windows 10
RX software at 2.2
Rekordbox software 4.2.5
Downloaded and correctly installed windows 10 driver v1.210
ethernet cable linking laptop to RX
Firewall off (zone alarm) windows firewall deactivated
WIFI in flight mode
works using performance mode via midi (usb) cable
I've tried mucking about with the ethernet port. When I run a diagnostic on it it says 'ethernet 2 doesn't have a valid IP configuration. IPv4 169.254... I've read that this might be causing a problem so I've manually changed it to 192.... but then the link button in rekordbox didn't come up at all. Clicked everything back to automatic IP recognition.
Thought it might be something to do with the ethernet port being an unrecognised network but couldn't change it to a trusted or private network.
Can't do anything else. Probably missed something very obvious but I've been at it for hours and I'm just about bandy with it.
HEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEELLLLLLLLLLLLLLLP!! :)

If you want to use XDJ-RX with rekordbox dj, you need to update the firmware version to 2.10 or later. Please check the version number and update the firmware, click here.
When the XDJ-RX is connected to rekordbox, you have to set the [MIXER MODE] to [MIDI CONTROL] on the [UTILITY] screen.
firmware is 2.20 and MIDI control is selected...
As I said, link button appears in rekordbox software on laptop. I press it and the two deck icons surrounded in green boxes appear (mixer icon has no box round it). I press the rekordbox button top left of the RX screen but no track listing
@John > Sorry, the instructions @Tomoharu provided are for using the XDJ-RX with rekordbox DJ (which you say is already working), not with rekordbox over the ProDJ Link.
Please see this article for some tips, specifically the Try disabling your firewall section (which has a link to a site outlining the method to switch your network type to private), and the still won't link properly section below it.
So... managed to get the network type to private by using 'homegroup diagnostics' - the easiest method I could employ! I've switched off wifi, zone alarm and AVG virus software. All drivers are up to date. All pioneer software, firmware and drivers are installed and up to date. I will try a different ethernet cable next. Any other suggestions?
window firewall also switched off. do either of these firewalls have background shiznit going on even if switched off?
Should really call it a LAN cable. The LAN cable should be linked directly between RX and lap top? Or should there be some hardware between them?
They should really call it a CAT5e straight cable, but they don't because that's even more complicated.
Yes, you should be connecting between the RX and the computer directly. Routers may block or try to manage the network traffic. A network "switch" (aka. "hub") would be fine as they're unmanaged and don't hamper traffic.
All of those security applications you mentioned have the capacity to filter or interrupt network traffic so be sure they're all DISABLED or in "game mode."
Also check that your file sharing is disabled and that you have no other server or sharing applications or services running.
Oh, and run a virus / malware scan. (I recommend Malwarebytes for the malware scan.)
