CDJ 2000 problem.

Hi guys, I'm back!

Here i've finally been able to show some problems i have, on video.

I was here (other forum version) withproblems with link. But haven't been able to capture it to this day. When I do capture it, ill show y'all what goes wrong.

Anyway; my cue / hotcue / rec/call / play/pauze buttons were not working. After I tried to call a hotcue on a track. Had to restart player to fix the problem. This keeps on occuring. And only occurs when in link mode.

Check vid for the problem.

USB has been formatted recently (a week ago); and was bought a month ago

cat5 cables used

latest firmware

p.s. don't let the tools next to the left deck scare you; I haven't opened the decks or anything stupid like that. I had a little problem with my tabel they are on, haha.

Dream Treez

It seems that all the left side buttons of the cdj player is not working! Is reverse working ??

When did you buy your players ? Does this happens only when you play with usb/link ??

Did it happen before or the problem just started now ?

I believe bast thing to do is to take it back and claim a new one if you can.

Pulse

@Sander > Are you using the latest firmware?  Have you had a similar problem using a different USB device?  If the USB drive is connected to the other player, does the same deck still have the problem or does it then get re-created on the host deck?

Sander de Koning

Sorry bout the late answer.

@pulse It doens't get recreated on the host deck. It's usually the deck that has the USB device connected to.

I found that when my players connected to rekordbox. It happens aswell. On both decks every now and then. The way to snap it out; is to use an other source (cd / usb) use the hotcue; and then go back to the previous source.

Yes firmware is up to date.

@dream treez. Reverse does work.

Dream Treez

Man you should take it back for repair

If the issue is genuine according to Pioneer it certainly looks like something they could fix in a firmware update..-- perhaps?

Sander de Koning

@movingzachb; Where have you read that the issue is genuine according to pioneer?

@everyonethatwantstohelp The other problem is still hapening too, that the link fails. But not as much as the hotcue problem at the moment.

movingzachb

Hi Sander.  Above I just mentioned if the issue i genuine or 'recognized' as something they can fix then maybe it would be done so in a firmware update.  But that is a very strange issue.  Are you connecting to  a USB drive or stick? Somehow it seems to me a stick would be more stable than an actual drive or if cables were connected from the CDJ's to some kind of switch.  If so I would bypass that.

Pulse

@Sander > I forgot to tell you last time ... The Blair Witch Project called, they want their cameraman back.  ;)

Can you please email me the export.edb file from the export device -- as well as the MP3 used in the video where the hotcues would not load?  If you can't find the file, please turn off your hidden folders.

Sander de Koning

I've tried the brand new cat6 cable (1m). (suggested in the older version of this forum) And it only cops out quicker most of the times.

@Pulse: I've sent you an email.

I think its a problem in the networking of the two decks. And the not being able to call hotcues through the link function is a problem; but then not as bad as when the whole link just fails.

BO the Man

@Pulse... Since 4.04 I have the exact same problem... Even the upgrade to 4.05 didn't work.

I actually reproduced this on 2 brand new players and a new USB stick... Upgrading to 4.05 and the problem appeared! As Sander is saying, it seems like there's a problem with the networking of the 2 decks. When loading memory stored items, it locks the "host" (one with the USB connected) first. It completely freezes, while the "slave" keeps playing for a while. The memory button is blinking all the time, while this is happening.

Weird detail, you can still use reverse... That will work for a while and then that stops functioning as well :( Final thing, I can reproduce this with existing MP3's on the USB, brand new ones (that have never been loaded to the CDJ)... It usually takes around 5 minutes to get the players in stuck mode.

Soo seems like the problem is not in the sticks. and you keep mentioning your existing MP3's. Just curious, how do you obtain your MP3's?? It might be possible that wherever your getting your MP3's that their ID3 Tags/ the file might be corrupt. Since you say that you are able to recreate the problem, are you doing so with the same MP3's?? If thats the case, you might have corrupt files. check out mp3val. Download it and scan your MP3's

BO the Man

and you keep mentioning your existing MP3's.

If you're referring to me: that's not true. I said I can reproduce it with MP3's already on the USB, with newly created mp3's, with mp3's I just bought from the different sources like BeatPort, Dance-Tunes and such and even with random USB sticks :)

The problem started with the firmware, if I had the Pioneer internal firmwares that allow you to downgrade, I would have been able to show that downgrading to 4.01 (the best FW IMO) would solve the issue :)

Sander de Koning

Guys, not trying to be egocentric butt.. My problem isn't firmware related. As its been happening throughout every firmware I have started with and updated with.

I know cdj2000 problem is rather a wide subject, but my problem is losing my link connection and part of my deck freezing. Wich is 50% of the time prior to the connection fropping/failing/losing

Pulse

@Sander > I note that you've replaced the network cables, but I'm wondering if it's a connection issue on the decks.

BO the Man

@Sander... That's weird, for me it only started with 4.0.4

@Argiris > Press and hold the USB media selector button + the Loop / Exit button at the same time when powering on the unit. Continue to keep them pressed until you see a prompt to insert the firmware.

Nicolas Schmitz

@Argiris> Where have you been man?? Didn't you see everywhere that 4.20 firmware was full of bugs and people were doing tremendous efforts to downgrade? You are lucky, don't upgrade now and wait the bug free version!!

argiris spanopoulos

Franck Michel

I have version 4.11 and I do not want to update to 4.20 problem too after what I read on the forum. I expected a better version, if it finally there's a new version planned

Gavin

4.20 is perfectly stable. The issue has been addressed with the release of rekordbox of 2.0.2.
