xdj rx lag

Dear Pioneer,

Last weekend it was kingsday in the netherlands.

So big partys everywhere inthe country.

But i have used my xdj rx for a while at a party and i noticed that there is some lag after a while.

For now i cant reproduce this.

But when i am scrolling heavealy true my libary's to search for a song. i noticed that when i was scrolling it sometimes stoped and needed a few secons to go on or i just needed to go up again and then down.

I dont know if anyone else noticed??

Also sometimes in the screen via the big waveform i dont know when but sometimes the waveform lags, looks like the gpu or cpu can not handle it enough.

Also this problems accurs when i am not able to shoot a video and only happens well i dont konw just sometimes...

when i see it and i can shoot a movie i will do that, but for now i am trying to reproduce. but if anyone esle has same problem well you know...

with nice regards.

@neils > What is the make/model of the USB device you were using at the time? When scrolling too fast it can sometimes be a bit slow to refresh and seem to lag in that regard.

As for the waveform lag, what was the filetype being played at the time? MP3 / AAC / AIFF / WAV? If MP3, was it constant or variable bitrate encoded?

DJ Lionbeat

Dear Pulse,

It is a Kingston USB 3.0 64GB DT R3.0 BLue.

For the wafeform it is MP3 and everything via recordbox. i have no idea what constant or variable bitrate means.

But just the normal way. i think i have chosen constant???

And does pioneer dont have a USB which works great on any device? so everybody who wants to be shure everything works can better use a pioneer stick. you can make it maybe better compatible.

The files are encoded in a constant or variable bitrate; files in VBR can be problematic, that's why I ask.

Pioneer doesn't have a list of recommended USB drives are there are simply too many on the market.

For comparison, the drive you mention has transfer speeds of 70MB/s read and 30MB/s write whereas performance USB3 drives can provide 400MB/s read and 270MB/s write. This tells me your drive, while from a reputable brand, is not necessarily a performance model. For reference, I have a performance USB2.0 device which features 27MB/s read and 25MB/s write speeds. That write speed is almost the same as your USB3 drive. Clearly your device is not a performance unit.

DJ Lionbeat

But tuis should not maken a the lag?

While it is still faster then your usb.

Even it is not a performence is is not slow

DJ Lionbeat

I had btw same problem on cdj nexus players last weekend with scrolling true the libary

Pulse

You may consider formatting and re-exporting your collection as it could be a damaged file or database causing the problem as well.

DJ Lionbeat

Dear Pulse,

Well how do i do that?

Becouse my computer has crashed somtimes.

And all my music is on my usb.

Also on my laptop but not in files so i dont have every thing in files to put it back on the usb,

IS there a way to make a backup of my usb via recordbox or something without losing my songs from my usb and all the files.

or is it possible to put a new usb in the laptop and also the usb with all the songs and copy them to the other usb?

please advise

Pulse

Are you using the same drive as both the source for your music and export device for use with the RX?

Pulse

Yeah, I certainly don't recommend that as the exported music is copied to the export folder, basically doubling the space required for that song.

Consider using a separate device for export.

DJ Lionbeat

I use My USB For cdj Nexus and rx. Nu musical ofcorse i have on My laptop. And put it frommelde the laptop to My usb

Pulse

I understand, but we don't recommend using the same device as the source and export device.
