[SOLVED] 350's & NI Kontrol X1
Hello, within the next week or so I am going to purchase pioneer cdj's and a mixer. I was looking at the DJM 350 but it doesn't really have enough effects/ones I like to use. So I looked into the Kontrol X1 by NI and wondered what I would have to do to make it all work together??? would it just be as simple as rigging up a usb splitter and and plugging the cdj's and x1 into my mac gaining extra effects and cue points buttons? or would i have to by an NI audio interface/soundcard? Help would be greatly appreciated as i don't want to waste money/have to spend more for nothing! I also was thinking maybe a djm600 but you can't record mixes with usb etc? but could this be an option for added effects? (p.s i have looked at the effects on the white djm 350 and i could make do with them but..... its white....) cheers!

Are you currently using Traktor? If not, you would need a soundcard if you purchased an X1 as it's solely a controller whereas the 350 is a CDJ with a built-in soundcard and can control software via MIDI.
In case it makes a difference, the effects on the DJM350-W can be applied to the black model, it's simply a matter of loading that firmware instead and you wouldn't have matching markings on the mixer.
hello sorry for the awful reply but... i have gone ahead and purchased the CDJ 350 and the DJM 400. After using them for a week or 2 i have decided i want to use traktor as rekordbox seems to analyize my tracks wrong and i find it really difficult to set the beat grid properly. with my current set-up if i brought an X1 could i just plug everything in via usb to my laptop and away i go or would i need to buy a traktor audio 2? cheers! :)
you wont need any additional hardware if you use in HID mode, via USB. You wont need a soundcard, like the audio 2, because the CDJs will act as your soundcard.
having said that- I'm currently having issues with the CDJ350 in HID mode with Traktor. The Jog wheel doesn't work properly. May just be a mapping issue. I have yet to hear from anyone who has gotten it to work successfully. I do think it will be sorted out soon.
i know that but will i not need some form of hardware if i want to use an x1? aswell as my cdj's and mixer?
Like I said, no.
@Sam > The X1 is USB connectable as are the CDJs so no, no other hardware needed.
