Rekordbox uses DDJ-RB + headphones for audio but i can't use it as a controller

Hello I recently purchased a ddj rb and have been attempting to set it up. I can manually (keyboard + mouse) add tracks to my rekordbox collectioni don't seem to be able to do anything with it besides use it as an audio output device (and even then it ONLY works for rekordbox audio, not anything else like youtube or spotify). for instance the rotary selector doesn't do anything, the load buttons dont do anything - the only bits on the controller that have any effect is tapping the master cue button and the headphones volume knob.

i would really appreciate any help you can offer. i have already tried different usb ports etc as recommended , the lights turn on on the controller. thank you very much

Which operating system are you using? I'm guessing Windows...?

Yes sorry I am using windows 10

Okay, for starters, the reason it won't work with other software is the audio drivers are ASIO, and most software doesn't need to use multi-channel output, so they are only designed to use WDM or standard "line" drivers, meaning it can't "see" the RB. You can use 3rd party software applications (such as Voicemeeter) to bridge the output from your standard application to the ASIO drivers of the RB, but unfortunately that is not an officially supported function so you'll have to figure it out yourself.

As for the control, are you certain that you installed the drivers properly before connecting the RB the first time? Does the RB appear within your system device panel as a MIDI device?
