DJM 2000 nexus sampler length
Could a possible firmware update increase the length of the sampler from 8 beats to 16 beats, or longer, or would this be a hardware limitation?

The maximum audio sample length is limited by time, not beats. I'd be lying if I told you I remembered exactly how long it was off the top of my head (8s?), but you can quickly figure that out. ;)
If you want 16 beats, simply manually tap the tempo to half of what it should be - it will then record double the length in beats!

I meant to say for the beat slicer, not live sampler. I've seen some videos of the beat slicer and it is broken up into 4 beats or 8 beats.
This makes sense because if it was done by times, 8 secs, they wouldn't be on beat or quantize.
The same trick would work for either sampler or slicer.
Would I need to use the Tap button or could I set the exact tempo I require using the touch screen?
Tapping it is so much quicker!
Would this still be quantized as well?
No - once you go to manual, it disengages the quantization.
