Kingston 128GB datatraveler crashes & freezing HELP!
Hello all,
I am having some serious issues with my new 128GB USB (3.0): https://www.kingston.com/en/usb/personal_business/dtse9g2
Since I use WAVs I needed to upgrade to a larger USB, the reason I chose this one was so I could carry it around in my wallet for those surprise pop up gigs (they happen sometimes).
I bought it online and was having some serious freezing issues when practicing with my XDJ-RX, I would skip through my hot cues to preview a track and the track would freeze or I would try to load it and it would take minutes to load or sometimes not at all. I returned it and got another one thinking it might be faulty but I have the same issues again.
What is worse is my 32GB USB of the same model but is USB 2.0 has always been trusty.
I cannot trust this USB at all at gigs now so I need to ask some questions.
A: Can you recommend me a 128GB USB that it wallet size (slim, small enough etc.)
B: Is 128GB not supported by XDJ or CDJ (seems like it should not be a problem)
C: Is the fact it is USB 3.0 causing issues? This would also confuse me as 3.0 is backward compatible
Any help would be appreciated I have been tearing my hair out over this problem.
Cheers,
Ben

Your story sounds a bit strange as Kinston is one of the better storage media brands...
Feel free to check your USB stick(s), if they are 100% ok. You can use this site to help. When a fault would appear, you might have a chance to get a new one under waranty.
Could it have anything to do with the size of it? I find it strange too as my 32GB Kingston stick has never failed me
For Pioneer DJ equipment there are no limits for the USB Stick/Drive media, as long as it is formated in FAT32 or HFS+.
Yeah I had assumed that which is why it is stressing me out. I just wanted a decent size USB so I don't really have to worry about maxing it out for a long time. I am going to try returning it and downgrading to 64GB USB 2.0 and get 2 of them, see if that helps me at all
Get a new one, start formatting in FAT32, and see what happends...
a new 128GB Kingston? I have tried that twice now, twice is not a unique issue time to switch it up with a different brand I think
after consulting my receipt I have 60 days to return so im good for time. I just switched from windows to Mac too so I will reformat Mac style and put the library back on there and see what happens
If you've switched to Mac, then you have to format in MS-DOS(FAT), that is the FAT32 version of Apple.
With a Mac you can also format in HFS+ what is accepted by Pioneer DJ gear, but not accepted by Windows based hardware.
MS-DOS(FAT) can be read by Apple, Windows, Pioneer gear, etc. etc.
OK, I will run reformatting, reexport and see how that gets on for me. Will post results
The disk utility failed to format or repair, the USB it is faulty for sure. I shall try with another one and format through mac before copying contents to USB from rekordbox
