[SOLVED] CDJ2000 slip mode issue on first initial try

So I was messing with slip mode and noticed if I load a track and play around with it a little and then try slip mode, the first spinback I do sometimes just replays the lyric again nstead of being ahead of time like it should be

in the video below you can see at 17 seconds in I spun the platter back but it replayed the same lyric and the part of the display that usually plays forward while you are do tricks does not continue forward, it goes in reverse along with the platter but after that then the spinbacks work fine.

Hope this is fixed in the next version because now I am always hesitant to use the spinback on slip mode and it sounding dumb because the effect didnt work

this is easy to reproduce on my decks, another video i just did shows if I hit some hot cues and then try slip mode, many times slip mode does not work

Did that ever happen before the update?

BriChi

not sure, never really used slip mode

This is exactly what I meant in my thread called "sleep mode" (I know it shall have ben slip and not sleep)
I also have a friend that has reported this issue. Slip mode is buggy and it does not work as it shall sometimes

+1;  and yes this was an issue before the update.  Count your blessings if the only consequence of this bug was a botched effect - I backspun an acapella at a live show that was playing over an instrumental and it glitched; I was left with the two tracks being off 2 or 3 beats which, I'm sure I don't have to tell you, wasn't exactly easy on the ears.  Luckily the crowd was very understanding and I was able to explain that my equipment had malfunctioned, and that the terrible noise they had just heard wasn't because I sucked.  They also took solace in knowing that Pio would likely repair the glitch in subsequent firmware updates.

Same problem here!

This happened life on the show and ruined the mix :(

Could anyone from Pioneer confirm the engineers ara ware of this? This is really annoying! Why if this function works with the cdj 900 without any bug it does not with the nexus? Do Pioneer have any quality control department?

BriChi

anything on this mods? seems these older threads get lost in the mix, never sure if anyone even seems them and slip mode is broke right now

Gavin

This issue has been raised with the engineers.

GlasEye2

Here's the dreaded (unmentioned) feeling:

You will need to sell your CDJ2000 Nexus to get and updated version that will fix the issue .

(Just looking back at PIOs track record regarding its original CDJ-2000 and how they 'addressed' the issues that have been reported).

BriChi

well fortunately for me I never had to sell a pioneer player to get a new version for a fix.

DJ Pete

All these issues with the s/w interaction with the players is what is making me hold out on getting another nexus... I rather be stuck with 2 instead of 4.

Response from the engineers:

This is not a bug, but this issue may occur if users do certain things before using the slip mode.

When using the SLIP function immediately after HOT CUE or needle search, the slip function might not work because sufficient audio data has not been read in the memory.

The engineers will continue investigation and development to the ensure the CDJ is performing as best it can within the limits of the current system

BriChi

makes sense, Is there a time amount they can give us on safely waiting before using "slip"? There are times I hit a cue or needle strip and waited a godd 5-6 seconds and tried it and it still didn't work, I thought the track would be able to buffer quicker then that

Gavin

Not currently but they will continue to see if they can increase the performance in any way.
