DDJ-40; Volume & Daisy Chain
Hello! I'm running the following setup off of my DDJ-400:
DDJ-400->Allen & Heath ZEDi-10 (a 10 channel mixer)->pair of Electro-Voice PA speakers & an 18 inch sub.
When trim on all three are set to 12-o'clock, volume seems quieter than it should be. I saw a post that the trim on the DDJ-400 should be set to 3 o'clock on both decks, is that correct?
The reason I ask is that the channel level meter lights up orange in that position, and I was under the impression that I should stay in the green (which I do on the mixer, but not on the DDJ-400). Do I need to upgrade to the DDJ-1000 to get the most out of my setup?

The channel levels should all be equal - I typically recommend people aim for audio peaks at the first orange LED (which is different on some products, and in the case of the DDJ-400, doesn't indicate what level it represents). This means you will have to adjust the trim so the song peaks there each time you load a track - you can't just set it at 3 o'clock and expect every song has the same audio level.
Take the master level up to around the 2 o'clock position - this is approximately where the master and channel levels are going to be equal.
Your output should be at a nominal level and you should then adjust the input on the A&H such that the levels aren't too high there either.
That's pretty much it!
