External Drive not recognised by CDJ 2000 Nexus

Hello,

I recently bought an external harddrive, did everything... Format it to Fat32, made the partition with music the only one (and primary one).

Rekordbox recognises it and works fine. But when I plug it into the CDJ's they tell me 'Format USB'

Anyone know the fix? Cause idk anymore.

Kind regards,
Mitchell

Check that it's set to Master Boot Record and not GUID as well.

Using external hard drive on CDJ makes so much trouble among people.

Check your cable because it may not be able to supply enough power to get the drive.

The majority of single disk external drive enclosures don't require dedicated power source. It's most likely a:

  • formatting issue (set FAT32/MBR)
  • cable/enclosure issue
  • brand of HDD (what brand are you using and type (stick, HDD, SSD)

The fact that the CDJ isn't recognizing it leads me to believe that the drive hasn't been set to MBR, so the drive isn't self executing. Just a guess.
