DDJ Sx2 left side no lights coming on.

I have a DDJ SX2 that I bought from a friend that has never had issues with it  and it has worked for 2 weeks. Now when I power the DDJ on the entire left side of the controllers Lights do no come on. problem is the entire jog wheel section. The mixer part all lights nominally and the right jog wheel section as well.  Everything works in Serato like it should but there are no lights. I researched it and looked at new firm wear updates. I updated the firmware and still the same issue. Changed power supplies, changed computers (Mac to different Mac). Tried and look at just about everything. its never been dropped or anything of that nature.
