[XDJ-R1] Four questions (call, cue points, drivers, remotebox)

Hi PioneerDJ,

I have a couple of questions about my XDJ-R1.

  1. What is the call button for? Next to the hot cue buttons is a button which says call. However, I wasn't able to find out what it does yet.
  2. How can I recall cue points I have set in rekordbox? Is this even possible at all?
  3. What is the Windows driver used for? The support page of PioneerDJ shows a driver v1.000 for Windows. The description says "This driver will allow you to connect your XDJ to a PC." What does this mean? Can I connect my computer with my XDJ-R1 through WiFi and stream music?
  4. What is the minimum iOS required to run the remotebox app? The manual says 4.2, but the App Store says 7.0.

I hope someone can help my out, thanks in advance!

@Stan >

1) It calls the hot cues for the currently loaded track, noted on page 14 of the owner's manual.

2) No, only hot cues sorry; memory points are not compatible with several units, including the R1.

3) If you want to use your R1 as a controller with DJ software and have the audio output through the R1's mixer.

4) I'm sure the minimum is 7.x, the manual is likely outdated.

I just found out the description of the app says 6.x is supported too. Is thuis description outdated too?

Pulse

@Stan > It's entirely possible that iOS 6.x is still supported, but considering iOS was released in September 2012 and iOS 9 is available for all products from the iPhone 4S / iPad 2 and newer, you really should be running a newer iOS if you haven't updated from 5 or 6.

Stan Derksen

Well, I don't want to buy a $600 device just for Remotebox...

Pulse

What are you currently using (device and iOS version)?

Stan Derksen

Nothing. That's the probleem. I want to buy a second-hand old iOS device just so I can use Remotebox.

Pulse

Ah, well, in that case, anything from an iPad 2 or newer will do as they can all run iOS 9, on which remotebox would certainly run.

Stan Derksen

Yeah, like an iPad is cheap...

Pulse

@Stan > The R1 works fine without one...

Stan Derksen

I know. It's still a blessing to have one if you want to use Rekordbox to it's full extend.

Pulse

Sorry, I'm just wondering what the issue is ... are you complaining about the price of an iPad or the fact an older version of iOS is not supported...?

Stan Derksen

Alright, so I just got an iPhone 3GS with iOS 6.1.6 and tried to download Remotebox. I got the error that at least iOS 7 is required while the description of the app clearly says:

"Supported OS:
iOS 6, iOS7 and iOS 8
iOS 4.3 and iOS 5 can be used but not guaranteed."

Then why am I not able to download it? Why is Pioneer making false promises?
