Pioneer DDJ RB - Speakers beeping, buzzing

It's likely that the USB port you are using for the DDJ-RB is not properly shielded and is causing the transmission of processor noise down the line to the RB itself, then amplified and output from the speakers.

I would suggest trying either another a different USB port on your computer or try adding a ferrite core (or get a cable with one built-in) to help eliminate noise and interference.

Okey, I'll try it, but I'm using the original USB cable what was included to DDJ-RB in original package.

I tried it, but the problem is same, still beeping and buzzing. I plugged another USB port and tried USB Cable with built in ferrite core (2 ferrite ring - 1 ferrite on first end 1 ferrite on second end), doesn't working.

Please help.

Hi, got the same issue here, very annoying btw... Using a cable with a ferrite core didn`t help either... I`m not quite sure either that this issue is caused by poorly shielded USB ports; I have connected the controller to several pc's and laptops (all brand) and everytime the buzzing issue occurred...

However I`m quite sure I have solved the problem now (it requires some DIY though...): from the cable between the controller and pc I have splitted the voltage leads which are now connected to a 220v USB (Samsung smartphone) adapter.

I`ve added a picture of the 'setup' for illustration, hope this is helpfull...

In order to avoid any official statements; this contraption is just for experimental purposes, a more robust version is in the make... :-)

As @sander posts, it's possible that your USB port isn't providing adequate power. Rather than making the hack he did, try purchasing a "Y" cable like this:

Commonly referred to as a "dual A-to-B" USB Y cable.

Hey i have a similar problem.

Whenever i play tracks there are weird skrachy sounds in it.

When i load songs on deck1 or deck 2 this sound is there too.

It's verry anoing.

I have no clue what should I do now.

Have bought the dual A to B cable as suggested by Pulse previously, no improvement whatsoever, returned to my home brewed cable as displayed.

I have a similar issue with my DDJ400 .   Being that the 400 & RB are usb powered. I am thinking it could be an internal controller grounding issue? 

I also own the DDJ1000 and SX2 and do not have the issue using the exact same setup.

That's because there is isolation from the external power on the DDJ-1000 and SX2 and the USB is only for data, whereas the USB on bus-powered products are more subject to interference.

sounds like Pio did not do a good job with isolation on the USB powered products.

 If it creates buzz and audio quality issues than it really it really should have been made powered.   

The culprit of the interference is typically the isolation between the data and power on the bus in your computer, not the DDJ itself.

clearly this is an issue with the controller..  not the laptop.  As i mentioned it works fine with a DDJ1000 and SX2.

Because those devices are self-powered and aren't reliant on the noisy power from your laptop. The bus-powered devices are getting interference from the power down the USB line, thus the noise. Trust me -- use it with a computer that features a higher quality chipset and isolation on the USB and it won't make the noise. It's your computer, not the DDJ.

what computer would you consider having a quality chipset and isolation?  I am using a MacBook pro. 

It varies -- even those depend on the generation and spec (eg. secondary graphics adapter).

sorry but your telling me my MacBook pro (2017 model) is not good enough to properly run with with Pios $250  controller?  Something is seriously wrong here. 

note I also run an Allen heath K2 Usb power controller using the exact same setup and do not get any buzz or noise.   Same with a usb powered reloop controller. 

I am starting to think i should return this pio controller. I love RBDJ and pio controllers but this issue seems common among pio usb powered lineup.   Sounds like a design flaw with no work around.   Pio need to look at this a bit closer.  

Does it happen if you unplug the computer from wall power and all other devices?

 ,   on a imac 5k  or pc laptop, tried shielded and other usb cables,  power-unplug on laptop it stays the same... 

The cue mix in headphones have a super clean sound .

however when button "Cue" under master volume is pushed  a  continu (white) noise in headphones is heard .    :(      ???? help ?

headphones  pioneer hdjx7  but also without headphones hiss on main output .. made a small video .. hiss disturb the music  , so guess it must go back ..

Does it have the same amount of hiss even when you don't have the headphone volume turned up that high?

are you really workjing for pioneer audio ?     yes the more you turn a volume knob the louder the hiss and the music also is of course---  i just need to know does other UNITS also have noisy soundcard ?  ..one day try to  check it in the store .. i cant return it because i used the serial number for rekordbox software .. 

Did you really ask that question? You do know that some audio circuitry can produce noise or interference whose output level is not relative to the signal amplification? Which is why I asked it.

yes i asked this because in the video i showed:

_the volume knob untouched full level + mixing knob in CUE position NO NOISE/hiss

_the volume knob untouched full level + mixing knob in master position  NOISE/hiss

(this shows  even on full level it played music without hiss )

so for me this question is  was irrelevant  ..mr technics ;)

support should  answer customers with possible solutions and don t reply with a more questions ,,

 it takes to much time i see to get a answer / solution from the profis....  never mind the party is long over in mean time .... 

...but the volume knob was at full the entire time.
