Can we purchase new DDJ-controllers without RB5 license?

With the release of RB6, the basic license is now free. Currently the DDJ-controllers like DDJ-400 and DDj-800 are offered together with a RB5 license (which is a 139 euro value). As this license could be seen as obsolete for new users, will there also be cheaper offerings for DDJ- controllers without the RB5 license?

Thanks.

Here's a list of the hardware that unlock performance mode without a subscription:

  • DJM-V10
  • DDJ-1000/800/400/200
  • DDJ-RZX/RZ/RX/RR/RB/WeGO4
  • DDJ-XP1/XP2
  • XDJ-XZ/RX2/RR
  • DJM-750MK2/450/250MK2
  • INTERFACE 2

This list is valid as of this posting (Apr. 15, 2020).

There is no discount for other hardware models, sorry.

So just to confirm if I was to purchase either the DDJ-1000 or XDJ-XZ with RB6 the free version it would unlock the performance mode so I can connect 2 Technics 1200 turntables in DVS mode without the need for a software subscription or additional hardware i.e. Pioneer DJ Interface 2?

@Thomas > If you wanted to use DVS functionality without buying a subscription for the DDJ-1000 or XDJ-XZ, you could connect the Interface 2 (and it's not needed for the audio connections), or the DDJ-XP1 or XP2 will do as well, and provide additional controls.

Super fast response thanks! What if use RB5 with either the DDJ-1000 or XDJ-XZ would I need any of the following hardware to unlock performance mode (Interface 2, DDJ-XP1 or XP2) to use DVS (besides pioneer timecode vinyl of course)?

I guess what I am also asking RB5 or RB6 aside does the DDJ-1000 and XDJ-XZ have a "builtin DVS controller" functionality already without the need for connecting turntables through the Interface 2?

Is RB5 still being sold with the DDJ-1000 and XDJ-XZ?

Thanks so much!!!

The stock shipped until April had a rekordbox 5 license in the box, so it's likely that you'll still be able to find those units with licenses for a couple of months.

Units that provide DVS unlock through the hardware are listed here; anything with "Free" in the DVS column.

For 5, you'd need the DVS key, for 6 it's hardware, and for both, you need the timecode vinyl (or if you're playing digital from an old CDJ, the WAV file).
