You can change the play-type from "toggle" to "gated" by clicking the arrow in the edit menu of the sample.

The sample mode is selected with the first two buttons; either straight-play or loop.
Pressing the pad will start playback, and only SHIFT+PAD will stop it.
If you press the GATE MODE button, it will toggle the operation of the sample to play ONLY while you hold the PAD:
To these two, please add a third mode: 1 press (without hold) play, the second press of stop.
