even the chipset of the old 2k was able to Play flac out of the box ;-) pioneer Need just to implement/unlock it in the Firmware. also higher samplingrates are possible on the spdif (48khz) of Course this will never happen. :-)
I don't think Pioneer likes to add such major features to older players, reliability, sales figures of newer models etc.
