DJM-2000 Booth output hiss
Hi,
Got a question about the hiss I get in my booth speaker. I have a cable going from the booth output L or R to XLR in a mackie srm-450. The hiss is not in the speaker until its connected. i know its not the speaker as I've tried other speakers aswell. I've also tried other cables and it does the same. I only am running one monitor speaker. Is this hiss the norm or can anyone suggest what is causing this.

Have you tried a different cable? Also, I would try the same setup at a different power source in the place you are in (possibly on a different circuit and not the room/outlet right next to the present one.

The amount of hiss is hard to judge without being there in person (not even a video would really help) as it's subjective. There is more noise in the monitor output than the master as the D/A converters are not the same.

Yeah, master output has hardly any hiss at all. Maybe the amount of hiss I have in the booth output is 'normal' and there is no way of reducing it.

Checked the same speaker on master out and its fine. So I guess its just the way it is when plugged into the booth output. Or could it be something odd like there is only one booth speaker and the other socket is not used?
that shouldn't make any difference and what other people above stated.. it's hard to judge if you can't hear it in person.
@Nick > If the same speaker only produces audible hiss when using the booth output, then it's likely just the D/A converters. I would suspect that you're hearing more hiss when there's no audio through it but once you have music playing it's not as noticeable?

I had the same "problem" with my DJM-900 connected to amplified Syrincs speakers. The monitor output of the DJM produces a noticible hiss but in my case (and probably yours too) the volume of my amplified speakers was set to max. Try turning the volume of the speaker down and the boot monitor level of your DJM up, that should clear that hiss right up! Find the right balance between hiss and maximum volume you want to get out of your speakers.
