Pioneer DDJ-SZ Jog Wheel Sensitivity issue (Pioneer, please confirm that you are aware there is a problem)

My problem is that my SZ jog wheels don't respond to every touch, and im wondering if its going to be fixed?

Here are some links to videos of the problem:

I am not the only person with this problem.....

After my 4th event with this controller, I have to add my name to the list of folks passed about the job wheel being wonky. I'm not risking this at live events again u til there's a fix. It would have been nice for a $2000 unit to have been tested thoroughly before shipping.

The jog wheels work when they want, and other times, they do not. I should not have to touch the wheel 3times to get it to respond, or lick my fingertips all night.

Rather than complain, seeing that it's just a paperweight right now anyway, pioneer, I'd be glad to test any firmware updates, or any other I way I can be productive in my reporting of the problems. I can't stand whining and I assure you, you will get none from me. I'll just go back to my cdj-2000nxs in the meantime.

I'm having the same issue with my right deck. This sometimes happens with 4 fingers on the jog wheel. I tried an experiment:

  1. Place left hand on left deck
  2. While hand is still on left deck, place right hand on right deck. It recognizes both, but then the right deck stops recognizes touch....even with 4 fingers on the jog. See youtube link:

My seller does not want to pay me, or to exchange for 7 days had passed.

I waited for a response from Pioneer, like an idiot and I'm sorry.

Are there any other option?

VJ Justin Allen

I have talked to several resellers that state that their return policy on this unit is either 7 or 14 days vs the usual 30 days.  This is an issue. Pioneer can you either talk to your resellers or give us an update sooner rather than later?

Joey Herber

Sad to say guys, but the sellers in your country are a bunch of thieves. The only option is for a warranty repair if a new firmware comes out it doesn't fix it. I was lucky that the first I went to gave me a refund.

Bjoervik

Hello guys. I got my DDJ-SZ yesterday.

I also have this problem, all the time.

The jog wheel is very unresponsive and will suddenly not recognize that you have multiple fingers on it. - (Then its just pitch-bending).

I have even tried to "warm up my hand" before using it with no luck.

Joey Herber

@BjoervikI uploaded a second video  showing my SZ with no issues. There's a link in my video of my first SZ that had platter issues

so pioneer, do you recommend we all rush back to the store to return our units if possible? can you at least throw us a bone and say whether you think its hardware or software??? I want to know before my 14 days is up with guitar center.

Joey Herber

Stephen, don't risk it. Just return it.

BriChi

i'd return it too, especially since users have returned and received another that works fine

Michael Fanning

GC replaced mine. 2nd works great!!

Olivier Deejay

Yes if you have this problem return it now. The first series of DDJ SZ have a problème. Pioneer have blocked deliveries of the DDJ SZ for verification.

It's information of my Dealer and Pioneer (Belgium).

Excuse me for my bad english ( French)

Ok add me to the crowd of displeased Djs. Got mine yesterday and my excitement literally died within 2 -3 minutes of powering and hooking to my macbook as the platter issue was glaringly obvious when i tried to mix in a song and the track didnt respond to platter multiple times. this is not good :-(  ..I will contact my dealer tomorrow and send back... paid too much to get the run around on this ...this is meant to be a pro level controller oh well back my technics t

Pulse

At this time we don't have any further information to offer, the investigation is ongoing and Pioneer has promised an update for mid-April.

For current owners who are dissatisfied and wish to return their unit, every dealer's return policy differs and you should refer to them for further instruction.

I am closing this thread; for any individuals who have problems with their SZ, you can email me directly at djpulse ILOVEBACON at mixaddicts dot com (remove the caps word, it's only there to beat spambots).
