Replace missing file with search on mac doesn't work

When a file is missing, and I try to replace the file by searching for it on a mac, it doesn't work.

The file is shown after the search, but isn't selectable.

OSX doesn't show the file name, but the ID3 tag name. This way, .mp3 isn't shown, and Rekordbox doesn't recognize the file being a music file.

Any help on this?

do you work with iTunes? If yes, i had similar problems as you. But when i search the songs within iTunes and swap them from the iTunes library to the search box from rekordbox its working fine.

@Sander > You should really focus on the primary concern, which is why the track goes "missing" in the first place. Are you moving them or are they being moved by some other mechanism (eg. iTunes managing the file locations based on changes made to the artist / album name).

Sander Den Ouden

Thanks, but I'm moving them on purpose.

This wasn't a problem with Rekordbox 3, but now with Rekordbox 4 and OSX El Capitan I can't move my files anymore.

@Sander > Well then, that's different! ;)

When you use the relocate tool, you need to identify just one track -- is it a Finder preference that isn't showing the filename when you are relocating?

i too move the files on purpose but in the past i have been able to locate them when i have put the files in their final location (where they will stay),but now when i try to locate them, the file its self is found but is not selectable and is a dim grey in color....its driving me crazy...what i then have to do is search for the file with my mac (not rekordbox) and replace and re anylize.....proper annoying

@Paul > The file should be selectable if you navigated to that finder manually. What you can try doing is a quick-view (right-click) and then it may become selectable.

Paulprendi2000

when i manually navigate to any file it IS selectable.but when i try and locate it through rekord box it is not,it is grey in colour and when i right click on the file for quick view this only lets me play the track through the default media player

Paulprendi2000

also the path to the file is listed at the bottom of the finder window....when i double click on that file rekord box says "this file is already the collection".......boggled

Then that's not a missing track, is it...?

I found a work around for not being able to select the file in the search window.

When you search for the file in Rekordbox, also search for the file in the Finder. Now drag the file you need to be selected from the Finder to the search window of Rekordbox.

Now you can open the file in Rekordbox and it i'll scan for other missing files.

Thanks for your sarcasm pulse, but if you read my post correctly i was stating that A) i COULD find the file. And B) it is not selectable. The latest post for a work around has been most helpful (unlike yourself) but also underlines the fact that rekordbox search feature is flawed. In fact if rekordbox had stayed as a file organising tool and not tried to muscle in on traktor, then 90% of our library would not be in the mess it is now.

That wasn't sarcasm, I was asking if that was the missing track if it was indicating it's the selected file. Is it a duplicate entry?
