Is the CDJ-2000 case metal or plastic?
I have not been able to see/touch the CDJ-2000 in person, and I haven't been able to find out online whether the overall 'shell' of the CDJ-2000 is plastic or metal... someone is going to be able to answer this in ten seconds though!

Plastic. Metal plate underneath. Made in Japan.
Ah, thank you. It's a little bit disappointing. I was hoping it would be metal like their mixers. Does it feel solid as a unit?
The unit is not cheap. I suspect scratches or switches that are plastic are probably cheaper to replace. The Play/Pause & Cue, Forward, Back / Search, Tempo, Memory Bank buttons all metal. The buttons on the rest of the unit are solid don't wiggle or anything. Go look at one. Either way - they pack a lot into one unit. For the cost one should get cases anyway if they had a pair.
For a club environment. They are fine. If you are a traveling DJ you are going to keep them in cases anyway. So that could be Pioneers justification. But yes it does make sense. Probably better to keep them in a case anyway (for the cost) and a case is better than a metal casing on the unit if you ask me.
Good points about the cases. Thanks all.
Same design the CDJ has always had -- as @mobingzachb said -- plastic on metal. Quite durable and has stood the test of time since the mid-90's.
