DJM 850 Mixer getting "really really hot"
Anyone else experience the DJM850 getting really hot during 10 hour set?
I know 10 hours is a long time, but still I could smell "hot electrics" smell if I put my nose to the faders.
I cant see anywhere that can be a Vent on these devices, seems strange not to have a vent of some sort????

The metal casing acts as a means to "release" the internal heat building-up. A vent would mean openings in the build, which lends itself to larger problems–such as a means for moisture (or dirt, dust, etc.) to make contact with the internal electrical components! A fan is out of the question too–the noise alone would be problematic.
Best practice is to place the mixer on a non clothed surface. Personally, I use something like this. It helps dissipate heat and enables the mixer to be angled ergonomically.
Having said all that, ten hours is a long-ass time, heat is an inevitable bi-product. I personally can't comment on the scent, however, I would be more concerned if the smell occurred sooner than ten hours of use.
You can also buy some taller self-adhesive rubber feet that raise the mixer off the surface more than the stock feet. I actually have 4 of these on the bottom of my MBP to help keep it cool.
Many thanks for your help and advice.
