DJM-T1 Won't let you record your set in Traktor?

Anyone else getting the "Recording could not be started" message when you try to record your set in Traktor?

Also, still getting glitches with the input / output meters in traktor's audio preferences. Even when audio is playing, input/output meters in the audio preferance pane show nothing then surge every few seconds and return to zero. There is audible clicking/distortion when it peaks through return USB channels 5/6. The actual mixer channels / audio works fine.

The record meters in traktor's input panel (behind the right fx) are registering the mix coming into the recorder ok, but when you press record, it comes up with a message saying it could not be started.

Mac OSX 10.7 Lion (Tested this under Snow leopard with the same results)

Okay guys, must be a configuration issue because I was able to pull mine out of my storage, plug it in, click 3 things and have it up and recording in under 5 minutes.

Step 1: Connect your mixer via USB.

Step 2: Open the Pioneer DJM-T1 Settings Utility. Don't have it installed? You need it. Go download it and get that business fired up.

Step 3: Configure the Mixer Output tab - you have no control over the input tab, it simply reflects what you have selected for the channel input selector on the hardware. Go to the settings for USB5/6 and set it to REC OUT.

Step 4: Using Traktor? Well, the channel input will be USB for both CH1 and CH2.

Step 5: Close the Settings Utility, you're done here.

Step 6: Open Traktor. Have you updated it recently? No? Go update it first, then open it.

Step 7: Open the Preferences, go to Audio Settings, make sure the Pioneer DJM-T1 is selected as the Audio Device. You can start by setting the latency low, if you get pops, clicks or dropouts, adjust this higher. With a computer less than 2 years old you should be able to set this to 128, but your mileage may vary.

Step 8: Go to Output Routing, make sure the outputs are set for Deck A to be Pioneer DJM-T1 Out 0 and Out 1. For Deck B, assign Out 2 and Out 3.  If anything got assigned to decks C or D, change them to --not assigned--.

Step 9: Go to Input Routing, set Deck A to In 0 and In 1, Deck B to In 2 and In 3, Deck C to In 4 and In 5. Set all others to --not assigned--.

Step 10: Go to Mix Recorder and make sure the Source is set to External. Set the External Input to Deck C. Verify your directory (where the recording is being saved) is valid.

Step 11: Close the Preferences and click the tape icon (top right of Traktor, above Deck B), the recording panel will open

Step 12: Play music - you should see the Master meter within Traktor bouncing, on the mixer you should set your channel gain so the peaks are near 0dB, same for the master.

Step 13: On the audio recorder, set the input gain so the levels are where you want them.

Step 14: Record.

Step 15: Revisit this post and tell me how awesome I am. ;)
