XDJ700 - beat counters + hotcues D,E,F...?
Hi there.
I own 2x XDJ700 and i use them with usb (tracks previously analyzed on rekordbox).
Everything works fine and i truly love them, but i got a few questions:
1 - The bpm counter shows nothing.
This is a feature that i consider very usefull and it doesn't count any beats, like it does on the rekordbox player on computer.
Also, the bpm counter on rekordbox only counts on 4beats (can't change it), and i would like to have it on 16 or 32 beat, before start the count again... like: 2.16 or 2.32 to 3.1 next and so on...
2 - i know it's a recent player but i was wondering if there will be some kind of update(s) to get my hotcues (beyond the A,B,C now) visible at least, like we see on nxs2 and xdj1000mk2? I'm not referring necessarly to go and "call" those other hot cues. I'm talking about just to see them marked on the waveform.
Also, the waveform, is it expectable to be upgraded to have some "multicolor" (and not only 1)?
Thanks in advance.
Luis

1. When you say the BPM counter shows nothing, do you mean the 4 "bars" at the top of the XDJ-700 GUI? If your XDJ's are connected via ProDJ Link, these bars should be moving in a manner that coincides with the beatgrids and play position of each deck. If they're aren't lining up properly (ex: the first bar with the first beat of a measure) then either the grid is off a bit or there's something else going on entirely. I also may be misunderstanding the problem, maybe post a video?
2. While I don't work for Pioneer, I'm willing to bet that there's simply too much of a difference "under the hood" of the CDJ-NXS2 and XDJ-1000MK2 in terms of processing power that would allow certain function updates to the XDJ-700/1000 MK2. Trust me, as a XDJ1000 mk1 owner, I would love for its functionality to catch up to my 2000NXS2 decks, but there are some things that are, unfortunately, beyond a firmware update due to on-board CPU/processor differences between the respective units.
Never say never, there's always a chance Pioneer may develop a way to perhaps add a couple more hot cues. I would guess there's a better chance of that happening than multicolor waveforms since the later would no doubt require more GPU power that the XDJ-700/1000MK1 simply doesn't have.
I'm sure @Pulse or @Mark will definitely chime in to correct me if I'm wrong.
Cheers.
About the question of the "bars", i wasn't talking about it.
I have always the xdj linked and the bars move correctly. I'm talking about the numbers, the beat counters (on the right side of the bars). The only thing that shows is like --.- ?
I was assuming that it should be counting, at least, like the rekordbox counts on the computer software.
About this software, still can't put it counting more than 4 beats, even though i choose it to 32, but nothing changes.
2. About a random possibility of "firmware" update, i was only begging for it to show all my hotcues (the regulars A,B,C + the next others) - not to "call" them...
I know that expecting a color overview to the track would be too much, considering what we're talking about, but... still here to expect something more.
Cheers.
@Luis.
What you are referring in regards to the bars. This Counts the bars backwards up to the next cue Point. If there is no further cue Point it doesn't Count anything.
Regarding the Hot Cue D+. It would be nice to Show them. However I don't think this will happen for 2 reasons. 1. This might only make sense when you are having multiple Player from different models. i.e. if you got the XDJ-700 and one or 2 CDJ-2000nxs2 and your tracks got more than 3 Hot Cues. I got 2x XDJ-1000mk1, they only Support 3 Hot Cues therefore I haven't set more in the tracks right now. Why I should think of more if not supported. I will reconsider in case I buy Players supporting more than 3. But right now I don't spend the time on making more unsupported Hot Cues. 2. Don't think it is a CPU power question just to Show them on the waveform but Pioneer would do so there will be other questions like. If you are showing them why are you not making them assessable. I guess it is simply a question of Features between the different models. Why People should buy XDJ-1000 or CDJ-2000nxs2 if the XDJ-700 does most of it as well.
I don't want to open up another discussion on this what the Player should Support and what should be added as a new Feature or what's not. I'm simply saying that I am not confident that it will happen. Even I would like it too.
Regarding the beatcounts, i think it would be very simple to have it (like rekordbox has, even if it only counts 4+4+4+4 and not as we would choose 16+16 or 32.
This makes a lot of sense to me because like me, there are thousands of djs that passed through traktor (for example) and if i have some kind of loop coming in, it's a lot easier to release it "on time" if we have some "visual confirmation" to say to us that everything will match, before the snare/vocal/bassline comes in or whatever...
Referring to hotcues, i mark the other hotcues because i play a lot with cdjs2000nxs and nxs2, i think that would become easily a standard so the gap between OUR performance should be the minimum possible, while we are talking about record players/xdj all integrated in the "improved" rekordbox system... that's all.
Hi Luis, have you found any way to show the bars count? I think to see the bars backwards up to the next cue point is not useful :I I would like to see the bars count at least instead of --.-
Thanks and regars!
