Rekordbox Hardware unlock devices

Would you like to explain why people that spent over $2000 on DJM 900NXS2 don't get the hardware unlock while people that spent $350 on a DJM 250 mk2 get the unlock? This isn't a good way to reward loyal customers that shelled out for top gear.

I'd love to hear Pioneer's official stand on this.

It's not a punishment, more following the history of the product since when rekordbox was initially released, it was as a music management / export software for preparing USB drives to use with CDJs - not as performance software. As such, they never shipped with keys for performance mode even once it was released. It's also about user segment; the DJs using DJM-900NXS2's are also likely to be using CDJ-2000's, all of which are intended as stand-alone devices (much like the mixer, the CDJs don't come with license keys / unlock for rekordbox either). A DJ buying a DJM-250MK2 is more likely to be playing at home or for friends where the computer is also more commonplace and accepted.

1. You could still allow owners of the higher grade equipment to request one time keys (through registering with Pioneer).

2. Then why add a key to the DJM V10?

The only reason I'm interested in Rekordbox 6 as a playout software is that it has Key Change as a feature while the CDJ's don't have this.

1. We will pass this request along.

2. Because there was already pushback from other products (eg. DJM-750MK2) receiving product keys included, so new products are being added as hardware-unlock devices.

I've seen a number of posts advising this issue will be passed up the chain

Is there any update, Ive just upgraded my mixer to a 900 NX2 and i cant use the newer version rekordbox, this is crazy

Sorry, the decision was made that the DJM-900NXS2 would not be included as a hardware unlock device. You can use rekordbox with that hardware provided you either also include another device which offers unlock (such as an XP1/2 or RB-DMX1 box), or purchase a subscription to the Core or Creative plans.
