CDJ-900 Laptop Connection

Hi all, I just recently bought myself 2 CDJ-900's now having spent 15 years with vinyl it's taking some time to get used to, but i can cope with that, i like the learning, what is confusing me though is linking to my laptop... I dont yet have a pioneer DJM but in the very near future i will be buying the 800, so for now my mixer is old, but does the job... my setup is:

Pioneer CDJ-900 x 2 (V4.04)

Mixer

Laptop (win7 64bit)

Rekordbox (V1.5.0)

Ethernet cable (linking the 2 900's)

2 USB Cables (linkin 900's to laptop)

Now i dont know if i am missing anything or if years of loud music has finally melted my brain, but i cant figure out how to use my laptop with Rekordbox to play music... ie play music from my laptops harddrive (already imported into Rekordbox) and play in via the 900's.

If anyone could help me out with a setup guide i would be forever gratefull as i don't have much hair left, and can't afford to be pulling anymore out.

Thanks in advance

Hi, You will need to buy a network switch. Then run your 900 Ethernet cables in to it. Then get one more and run it from your laptop to the switch as well. Eg cdj 1 to port one in the switch cdj 2 to port two and the laptop to port three. The USB cables are for useing the cdj as sound card or controllers so the are not needed for rekord box.

Hope this helps.

Thanks for the reply mate, I got it sorted, I did want to use them as midi controllers as all my music is on the laptop, so i opted for Traktor instead, still had issues connecting them until i read that you have to change the HID setting on the 900's to standard not advanced, and once i had done that i had full controll.

Thanks again mate

Peace
