What is the function of the digital link on a DJM-900 from snd/rtn to an EFX1000?
I recently bought a DJM-900 and I had it wired up in between the output of my mixer and my stereo amplifier. This was great as I had the colour effects and beat effects off the mixer and then another layer of effects with the EFX-1000. I wanted to see what the send/return effect was used for on the mixer so I checked the manual and learned that it was for wiring my EFX into. I bought the cables and wired it up as the diagram showed.
Now it seems I can only use the EFX when the mixer is set to send/return, which means i can only use either the beat effects OR the EFX at any one time. I'm sure there must be something I'm missing along the way but surely it would make more sense to allow for three layers of effects by wiring up in between the mixer and amplifier?
Any help or tips greatly appreciated!

No, you are correct and you're not missing a thing. You can have effects units like the EFX-1000 or new RMX-1000 connected in 3 different ways...
When I had my EFX, I used it like you, between the mixer and amplifier. I sold it and just got an RMX, which I'm now using via the send/return. If you ask Pioneer, their general recommended response is usually for you to use send/return, but it's down to personal preference really.
Ahh right, thanks for clearing that up. Seems a bit daft that its like that don't you think?
Whats the RMX like? Looks like a very nice piece of kit on video, whats it like in reality? Does it have all the features of an EFX? Im seriously considering buying one!
Thanks again
