Does anyone know why REV 5 suddenly keeps stuttering when i connect to laptop

So my REV 5 was working just fine until yesterday when i returned home from a trip I tried connecting up to it however as soon as I tried to play a song it started making this weird echoing sound and would keep doing it until disconnected. I did use that same laptop while away to connect to a Denon controller. Do you think that may have caused the issue?

Dancin' Mark

First, what kind of laptop do you have, and which software are you using?

Marcellus Hall

I'm using a HP laptop and running Serrato Pro

Have you checked your latency settings since attempting to use your REV5 to confirm nothing changed after using a different controller? Normally these shouldn't change, but anything is possible. Also, can you provide a general idea of what specs your laptop has, as well as which version of Serato DJ Pro you are running?

Marcellus Hall

64bit operating system and 32GB RAM. Haven't tried latency but it almost sounds like there's an effect like echo stuck on somehow

Marcellus Hall

like I said it was working flawlessly before

I'm making every attempt to help you and find out why. The more info you provide, the better. What CPU are you running? Also, does your machine have a discreet GPU Nvidia, or AMD? Are you running off of an SSD or HDD? Also, do you keep your music on your laptop, or do you have an external drive? A little background on me. I build PCs as well as use Rekordbox DJ, Serato DJ Pro, Virtual DJ, and Traktor. I work in A/V and event production. I also build PCs. I hope with all of the knowledge I possess that I can help you out.

I do keep my music on the laptop 11th Gen Intel(r) Core i3-1125g4 2.00GHz

Ah ok so it seems maybe the system may have now stopped working well with the i3

Dancin' Mark

Is there a feature that the Denon controller may have turned on like STEMS that was not active before you plugged it in? I highly recommend checking your latency settings. If too low, especially with an Intel I3, you may be putting too much load on your CPU. This may not have happened until plugging in different equipment. Otherwise, I have been in this situation a long time ago, and your CPU is on the weaker side and not within Serato's required minimum specifications.

Dancin' Mark

Have a look at this from Serato's website. This may help you to be able to adjust your settings for best performance despite the model of CPU your laptop is equipped with. You may be able to get away with it for a little while longer. https://support.serato.com/hc/en-us/articles/360001013076-Intro-Setup#:~:text=Buffer%20Size%3A%20Click%20on%20the,Serato%20Studio%20feeling%20less%20responsive.

thank you so much i will try

Dancin' Mark

You're welcome. Good luck! Have a blessed day.

One more quick thing. Look up the Serato optimization guide to achieve the best performance from your laptop.
