Problems with USB reading

I have a USB that I normally use for playing music. Today I decided to practice on my Pioneer XDJ-XZ, and I noticed that it wasn't recognizing the USB. I tried formatting the USB in the correct formats and tried many things, but it still doesn't work. I've seen that with other USBs there is no problem. Then I tried updating the XDJ-XZ, but it still doesn't recognize the USB to read the update file. In that case, it doesn't recognize any USB

Hi Patricio Shoucair

If you are trying to update the firmware, please follow the recommendations below:

  1. Make sure that you do not rename the extracted file;
  2. Make sure you copy the .upd file (firmware update file) into an empty USB drive;
  3. Try USB drives in different sizes and try smaller than 64 GB;
  4. Please try different USB types, 3.0 and 2.0 (in particular for older models);
  5. Make sure to format the USB drive to FAT32 with a "single MBR partition".

If it does not recognize the USB, please try the steps below and see if they make any difference

  • Try to format your USB drive to FAT32 and make sure to do it with a "single MBR partition". Especially for old player models, a single MBR partition is required, so make sure your USB key has an MBR partition.
  • Please also note that USB memory drives will fail after a certain number of years of use. So try to export your playlists to a brand new USB drive.
  • If you have a Mac at home, you can also try an HFS+ formatted (Mac OS Extended Journaled format) USB drive instead, as it might work better.
