How Does an i9 Desktop Enhance Rekordbox Performance for Professional DJs?

Hi everyone!

I’m a professional DJ and have been using Rekordbox for a while now to manage my tracks, prepare for performances, and handle my live DJ sets. Recently, I’ve been thinking about upgrading my setup to an i9 desktop for better performance, especially with Rekordbox’s demanding features.

I’m curious if anyone has experience using Rekordbox on an i9 desktop and whether it makes a noticeable difference compared to using a standard desktop or laptop. Here are a few things I’m hoping to improve:

  1. Track Analysis Speed: Does the power of an i9 desktop significantly speed up the track analysis process in Rekordbox, especially for large music libraries?
  2. Real-time Performance: How does the i9 desktop handle multiple decks, live effects, and transitions during a performance? I’ve heard that higher CPU power can help reduce lag and make the workflow smoother.
  3. Audio Stability: Does the i9 improve audio stability and reduce the likelihood of glitches or crashes, especially when running multiple applications alongside Rekordbox?
  4. Syncing with External Hardware: If you use controllers, mixers, or other external gear with Rekordbox, does an i9 desktop offer better synchronization and responsiveness?

I’m looking for any advice or feedback from DJs who’ve made this kind of upgrade. Is the i9 desktop worth the investment for Rekordbox users, or do you think it’s overkill for the software’s needs?

Looking forward to hearing your thoughts!

Ves
  1. Yes, it speeds up the analysis process
  2. If you mean high CPU cores with CPU power, yes this helps. As for lag, if you have enough RAM there is little to worry.
  3. No, this is not a guarantee. Latency can be caused by multiple things, from poor drivers to internal components.
  4. Again this depends more on the latency and more important how much RAM you have than if it's an i9.

In my opinion it's not worth getting an i9 desktop unless you do more than just perform. It's definitely an overkill for just DJing, even with effects, video and stems.
