Encountering lag on Pioneer DJ software with my 16-inch AMD laptop – seeking troubleshooting tips

Hey everyone,

I’m reaching out to the community for some help regarding performance issues I’m experiencing with my Pioneer DJ software. Recently, I’ve been using a 16 inch AMD laptop to run my DJ setup, and I’ve noticed a lot of lag and occasional freezing, especially when I’m working with multiple tracks or effects in rekordbox. I love how everything sounds, but the system struggles to keep up when I try to do anything intensive.

Has anyone faced similar issues? My setup has the latest software version, and I make sure to update my drivers regularly. However, despite these efforts, I still face these issues during performances and practice.

Here are a few questions I have:

  1. Are there any recommended settings in rekordbox for AMD laptops that could help optimize performance?
  2. Is there something specific I should be looking for in my laptop's power settings or system resources?
  3. Any tips on using an external drive or other peripherals that might help with performance?

Looking forward to any insights you can share.

Hi Harry.

I'm using an Ideapad 5 (ryzen 5, 6gb ram) and had no problems so far (2decks + FX with no stems)
Try different buffer sizes. Im not on my pc now but i think mine is on 512.

On windows be sure to disable wifi, windows defender (you can't deactivate it completely, but you can make exclusions for RB and music folders) Also try to check what launches at startap on your pc and disable all you can.
