Optimizing Rekordbox Performance on an i5 Laptop
Hi everyone,
I’m hoping to get some tips on optimizing Rekordbox for use on my i5 laptop. I’ve been DJing for a while now and am running Rekordbox on a system and a solid-state drive (SSD), and I’m curious if there are any specific settings or tweaks that can help improve performance.
While everything seems to be running smoothly most of the time, I want to ensure I’m making the most of my i5 laptop capabilities, especially when performing live. I’ve heard some users mention certain configurations or adjustments that can help with smooth transitions and faster track loading. Whether it's related to the software’s settings or something on the laptop’s side, I’d love to hear your suggestions.
Looking forward to your advice and insights from your experiences!

Hi Olivia.
You don't mention if you are on windows or mac.
I only know windows so:
- Try to disable startup services and background apps you don't need.
- Turn wifi off and use a ethernet cable if i needed.
- i dont know if these apply but i do it anyway: you can't disable completely windows defender real-time scan, but you can make exclusions (i do it with my music folder, software folder and "My Documents" software folder.
Happy Dj'ng ! ☻
