XDZ-AZ and Beatport Sync - Passwords and Pro DJ Link

I was so excited to get the new $3,500 XDJ-AZ after learning that it has on-board wifi and Beatport Sync, just like my little $1,000 three-year-old Denon Prime Go has.

Imagine my disappointment when, unlike the three-year-old Denon that's a third the cost:

  • The XDJ does not store my login credentials in any way, meaning I have to type in the password EVERY time I turn the unit on. Now I have to use a less-than-secure password for my Beatport account. The bottom-tier Denon standalone has been able to store credentials since I bought it.
  • The XDJ does not send ANY track data out via Pro DJ Link. When I'm streaming on Twitch, I use Pro DJ Link to put the track titles on screen for my viewers. And no, using the AZ as a Rekordbox controller isn't an option– if I wanted to DJ through a laptop, I wouldn't have bought the top-tier standalone. The Prime Go has also been able to do this (via Denon's data stream) since 2022.
  • The XDJ also doesn't even save the track info to the USB drive's history files. I literally have no way of turning the tracks I've played into a set list for my fans or for my own records later. Again, the Prime Go has done this since day one.

These seem like things that could easily be fixed with a firmware update and would bring AlphaTheta's flagship standalone up to at least 2022 standards of quality. Until then… I guess I'll just keep slapping the Prime Go on top of my AZ for the Friday shows.

I completely agree — these are key improvements that need attention!
