Noticed both of my jog wheels were mechanically "locked" from the factory and it took a considerable push to release them almost like there was a plastic tab that needed to be released.   Is this normal?   Everything I've read doesn't seem to confirm this but both jog wheels were like this -- so just confirming I didn't just break something that was brand new.  Might be a noob question, but I appreciate it!

If so that isn't normal. You can do two things, 

  1. Check if the jog wheels are properly seated. 
  2. If it still jams (locks) up swap it for a new unit.

Exactly the issue on both. AlphaTheta thinks it happens if the unit was dropped during shipping after emailing them.

I applied some force to both and they both snapped back into place. They seem to be working on but on close watch.
