XDJ-RX controller rekordbox + usb connection issues since loaned to friend and the newest version update

ive tried updating firmware, ive tried countless usb's, ive tried the usb link connection cable
cant get rekordbox to recognise controller that up until the last few months has ran flawlessly.
its like somehow my mate has corrupted the controller, like still starts, but will just infinity load the usb's put intoi port 1 and 2 and wont ever actually load anything.
even freshly fully formatted usb's it cant seem to read or something?

is it worth reinstalling version 2.20, then reupdating to version 2.21?
as i know its not a file corruption or storage device issue.

please please please help me
