DDJ-SR - USB-C - Crackling sound
Hi,
I'm still dj-ing with my old Pioneer DDJ-SR, it is still doing what I want it to do, it is a solid controller...
Software: DjayPro (latest updates)
DDJ-SR: latest firmware 1.8
MacBook Air 2025 M4 16GB RAM
Issue:
after about an hour of dj-ing, a crackling sound comes up. The timing is inconsistent, it can also be after half an hour or shorter period. Solution is to restart the controller but that is not fun thing to do during the set.
I am using a solid USB-B to USB-C cable, no hub or adapter.
I know that it is an old controller but I'd love to keep working with it.
I think the issue might be that the controller needs to get his power via the USB cable, there is no seperate power input on the SR.
DjayPro doesn't have an option to change the buffer size.
Would it be a solution to purchase a "better" usb cable? Or won't there be any difference?
This one?
I was also considering purchasing a DDJ-SR2 cause it has a seperate power supply, but it is not for sale anymore.
Hope someone can help me out here.
Thank you,
Jan

DDJ-SR does not officially support DJay Pro.
It only supports Serato and Virtual DJ.

Does the same happen if using Serato or Virtual DJ?
The controller works perfect with Djay Pro but I did follow your suggestion, installed Serato Pro, and after two hours of playing music, there still is nog cracklings/distortion.
So it does have something to do with software.
DJay Pro doesn't have an option to alter the audio buffer size, that might be the issue.
Thanks
Jan
